Wigan Results

Wigan 26th May.

Saturday Testing was dry untill the very last session. Craig soon got to grips with the track and posted some good times.

Sunday as ever was wet. Practice went rather well for Craig and he lined up on grid 18 for the first heat. He made a pretty good start but just before he went out it was drying so pressures were dropped. Of course as he went out it rained! Craig finished 15th.
Craig was on grid 7 for his second heat and was pushed all the way down the main straight and then spun 180 degrees off the track. Of course no action was taken by officials as usuall. So that resulted in a dnf.
Craig started on grid 5 for his last heat an drove a really good race to finish 6th.

Craig started on grid 17 for the final and drove a good race to finsh 12th. For the first time this year Craig has finished a meeting at Wigan.

Wigan Febuary Meeting.

Again Craig had a new track to learn on the saturday and soon got to grips with it quiet well.
Sunday again was really wet. After practice we had a little talk with Gerrard from Project One and he very Kindly lent us a set of Wets. He then set our Kart up for the first heat and off we went. Craig started on grid 12 for his first heat but never even passed the line before being hit from behind and sent up in the air jumping the chain off and destroying the sprocket carrier and making a mess of the bearing hanger.
Having a 6 race gap to replace everything and check the axle was still straight we worked very hard and just made it. For the second heat Craig started 14th on the grid. He made a steady start taking it easy not to get into another forst corner pile up. A few laps into the race there was a accident right infront of Craig leaving him no where to go but into someone else. After restarting Craig finished about 18th place.
After all this Craig started on grid 4 for the B final. Knowing that he only needed to finish where he started Craig still put a 110% into his driving and settled into second place for 6 laps. on lap 7 Craig caught the leader and when trying to pass him made a slight mistake and dropped to 3rd. As the last lap board came out Craig was on his way round the outside of the second place man at the end of the start finish straight when as he put his foor down the chain snapped again resulting in a non finish. This is the third meeting in a row that Craig has not finished. He is hoping to change that with a return to Rissington this weekend.

Wigan January Meeting.

This was Craig's first meeting on his new chassis and he was really looking forward to it. Craig had 2 wet sessions and 2 dry sessions on Saturday testing.
Craig started on grid 7 for his first heat and made quite a good start untill 2 laps into the race when he got pushed off the circuit and right down the field. Craig fought back and managed to finish a good 14th place.
The second heat Craig started on grid 17. This time it was wet. Off the start Craig was hit from behind spinning him on the line. luckily they restared the race but he was unable to make it back to his place so he started form the back. He fought a another good race to finish 14th again.
This put him on grid 12 for the final. by this time it was gettin very wet and Craig was on quite work wets which wern't working too good. He dropped back a bit off the start but he slowly started moving through the field and clawed his way upto 12th place before spinng when avoiding a novice. This time Craig couldn't start the kart and ended in a DNF for his first meeting.

Rissington 3rd March
Rissington, 2nd June.

As many of you will probably no Rissingon are tryin to re establish there selves as one of the best circuits in Britian. As part of this they have had there track resurfaced.
Saturday was very hot and as predicted the track was very slippy. Craig and his chassis soon hooked it up fine and he was one of the quickest on the track. Unfortunatly due to the heat and kart going sideways the track was beginning to break up so practice was stopped and partly refunded.
The alfarno strip was laid saturday nite and the nessacery repairs were made to the circuit aswell.
Sunday was very hot and between 8 and 9 it became increasingly hot and all drivers were called up and told the due to the heat the decission had been to cancell the meeting. Many drivers including Craig were upset at this but nothing could be done. Craig will be back next month ready than ever for a good race.

It was Craig's 16th Birthday on the Saturday so were hoping for a good weekend! This weekend we were working out of the Century Awning. All didnt go as planned though. First we bent an axle then to top things off we sized the Engine in the last seesion.
Clive Freke lent us a engine and we were able to race Sunday. Craig gambled slicks for the practice which probably wouldn't of been a good choice if it was a race.

For the first heat Craig started on Grid 3. He didnt make a good start at all an eventually settled into the race on about lap 5. He finished 10th setting the 3rd quickest time in the process.

Craig started on grid 18 for the 2nd heat. He had a little talk with Nathan and his driving improved a little. He finished 12th setting a good lap time.

It wasnt untill the third heat when a real improvement could be seen in his driving. He started 8th and soon made his way upto 5th. there he set about catching those in front and did with 2 laps to go. He should of passed 4th and 3rd place man but didnt but still finished a well earnd 5th.

Craig Started 14th for the A final. Hers's where dissaster struck. As they wen across the line 4 karts were hit off Craig being one of them. He got the kart going again but the damage was so severe to the kart he was black flagged because there were sparks going everywhere! For the first meeting in a row Craig had failed to finish the final.

Craig would like to say a big thank you to Clive / Nathan Freke for there help over the weekend and a superb engine.
Fulbec, April.
This was the first time Craig had visited the track and Saturdays testing was all about learning the hard twisty track.
Three lap practice went quite well for him and he started on grid 18 for his first heat. He came through the field and finished 9th.
Heat number 2 he was on Grid 2. From the start he settled into 2nd place and then he dropped another but soon regained it. Four laps into the race he was caught by a quicker driver and when coming out of the hairpin Craig got hit accros the kerbs and then grass throwing a chain. This resulted in a DNF.
Craig started on Grid 9 for his third and after a good race he finished 8th.
Because of his dnf Craig started something like 14th for the final. He made a good start and immediately caught a pack of 4 karts he moved up behind the leader of the pack. After a lap behind him he made a mistake and dropped to the back of the pack. Again he came back through the pack and and cudnt quite get past the leader and finished 10th.
Craig was not too happy with this beccause he was 2 tenths a lap quicker than the pack and could of gone quicker.

Next meeting should be back at Wigan in May.
