All Shenington Results
Shenington 4th February Practiced on Saturday and the weather started wet but dried up.
As soon as we pulled up on Sunday it was pretty clear that without new wets we weren’t going anywhere.
We started the practice and there was no grip in the Kart at all. Still without new tyres we went into the first heat and finished 8th. After a lengthy discussion with Grandad we got a new set of Wets. With no practice what so ever on the new style wets we guessed the set up and started from grid 7th. From the rolling lap I could tell that there was a lot more grip than there was before. After a good start I kept cool and managed to finish 5th.
I started 6th on the grid for the Final. we altered the set up a bit, but it wasn't right so I only managed to finish 6th.
20th May
Our first visit to Shenington since they’re first meeting in February. We went down to practice on Saturday but all day we were seriously off the pace. At one point we were 3 seconds off the pace. By the end of the day we were down to about 2 seconds off the pace and for no reason at all.
We woke up Sunday morning and the sun was shining, we changed Carb and made a few minor changes. We started 8th but right from the start you could see we lacking power coming out of the corners which ment I never had enough top end speed.
For the second heat I started 18th and after making quite a few changes we were quite a lot better but still not quite right, and after being held up behind a much slower Kart and to make it worse he was weaving, so I finishing mid field.
The final we started 16th and this time we were near the pace. I made the best start of the day and then slowly over taking people 1 by 1 but, the final was cut down by 2 laps because of a protest made in the Senior TKM C final, which ment none of the other Senior TKM finals could be run. If those 2 laps hadn't of been taken off then I think I could of made it higher up the field.
17th June
We arrived there again on Friday night and the whether was fine.
Saturday morning it rained. We were due to test out the Project 1 Chassis on Saturday so we did with pleasing results.
Sunday morning was dry but looked like it could rain at anytime. Clive was kind enough to lend me the Project 1 to race with aswell. The practice was the first time I had driven it in the dry and as Craig was going around the put side of two drivers one hit the other and Craig and the other lad went off and rolled there karts. Both of them were ok and so was Craigs Kart.
The first heat Craig was hit from behind knocking off the chain and pulling out the exhaust pipe. Craig stopped the Kart and fixed but by the time he got the Kart done he was a lap down.
The second heat he made a good start fighting for position finishing 7th.
The final Craig started 10th and was being held up for a number of laps and when he eventually got to 7th place the driver behind him hit him off the track. An observer saw it and the driver was dealt with accordingly.
With a week off now Craig is looking forward to Rissington where he hopes to go two places better.

16th September
As usual we practiced on Saturday but Craig seems to being through a spell of bad look.
All Saturday we had problems. Craig had no power at all. Dad was busy all day rebuilding carbs and checking the electrics but that was all-fine.
Sunday morning we put on new rubber and just went into the practice but still having no power. All throughout the heats we were dropping teeth on the sprockets but still no power.
The final Craig qualified on grid 14 and made a pretty good start but it was clear after 4 laps he was still under powered. Craig finished the final near to the back and the engine has now been sent away for the ignition to be testing. Craig will at Rissington in two weeks and hopefully this run of bad luck will come to a bad end by then.
Shenington 19th October
This time we never tested Saturday but got there early Sunday morning. The Practice was cold but dry, Craig seemed quite quick but needed a few changes made before the first Heat.
Just before the Practices could be finished it started raining, by the time Craig's First heat came round it was definitely wets.
Craig started mid field for the first heat and made an ok start but after a few laps the engine started to slow and not reach full revs.
The Second heat Craig started on grid 8 on the grid, off the start Craig moved behind Stephen Lane and followed him through the field. After 2 laps Craig was in 4th but then again the engine slowed up again until eventually it stopped.
Two races later the organisers stopped the meeting for 30 mins due to the rain so Craig Rang Clive Freeke and after a lengthy convosation it was put down to the chassis. We were due to pick up Clive's demonstrator Kart so for the final we used that. We rebuilt a bare chassis in 20 mins and got it scrutineered. Craig started the final from the back of the grid. He made a good start and then after a few laps when he was upto 5th place catching the lead 5 very quickly, when he was pushing a little to hard and spun off. Eventually he finished last but it proved the venom was cracked because there weren’t no problem in the final.

Rissington Results
Rissington 1st July 1st July
Once again we turned up on the Friday evening, but this time there were loads of people there.
Saturday turned dry for us but everytime the Seniors went out it rained and then got dry again. The first practice Craig went out and he brake pads had been cooked and we decided it would be best to get new ones as they were worn out anyway. After the bedding in process Craig seemed to be well on the pace, passing 8 karts going in and threw the dog leg.
Sunday it was dry again but on lap 2 of the practice Craig's chain snapped just as he was keeping up with Adam Constable.
Heat 1 Craig started on grid 8 and a bad start saw him drop back but after a few laps he got too seventh where he eventually finished.
Heat 2 he started third on the grid and an excellent start saw him move straight to second place but after 2 laps he out braked him self going down into the dog and finished last but 1.
Heat three was a lot better, starting from 5th he made an ok start eventually finishing 4th.
The final he started grid 8 but the Kart wouldn't handle no where near as good as it had done and a lack of power. Craig ran wide 3 times on the elbow falling further behind everytime. He eventually finished last but 1. Not a very good weekend as Craig was hoping to improve on last month's position. Next month he should hopefully b back up there.
Rissington 5th August
The engine had been rebuilt and run in earlier in the week @ Whilton Mill Craig was happy with the way it was going.
Again we arrived there on Friday Night with some good weather. Saturday morning arrived and it was sunny. Craig went out for his first session and for the rest of the dry sessions he was having problems with the back end breaking away after a couple of laps. Towards the end of the day it started to rain and these conditions seemed to b better with Craig being very quick.
Craig started 6th for his first heat and made a pretty good start but was took off by No.67. And finished 6th.
He started 4th for the second heat and was again hit from behind by No.67. Snapping the bumper bolt which really effected the handling and Craig finished last but 1. For this incident No. 67. Got and endorsement on his license.
For the 3rd Heat Craig started 6th, again he was hit hard by No.67. But this time he stayed on the track and finished a well-earned 3rd. This time No.67. Was given the black flag but refused to come off the track and got excluded from that heat.
In the final Craig started 7th this time behind No.67. He made a good start but as he was going round the outside of everyone @ the bottom corner No.67. Took someone off ad Craig had to drive onto the grass to avoid being hit. By the time he had got back on track he was bout half a lap behind and down in 6th place, he then set about trying to catch up with everyone. 3 laps from the end 2 in front of him spun off giving him 4th place but he was unable to catch 3rd place.
Next meeting at Rissington is the Midland Champs and Craig is hoping to do a lot better there and all being well it should be a lot better racing than this meeting.
Rissington 1st / 2nd September. MIDLAND CHAMPS
this time Craig was hoping for a win. Saturday during testing Craig seemed quite quick.
Only 6 Junior Inters entered and 1 Junior Rotax. Craig started mid pack 4 his first heat and he made a good start but as he was going round the outside of them one driver decided 2 turn into Craig putting him of the track and when he rejoined he was last and bout 200 metres behind. He was slowly catching them but the heats were just a little short for him to start over taking.
Sunday was wet so the officials had no choice but to give everyone a 3-lap practice. By the time it was Craig’s practice the track had dried. Craig started 4th for his second heat and made a good start but again the same driver turned into him so Craig finished last but one.
In the third heat Craig started on grid 3 for his last heat and made a good start taking the lead for a few corners but one Kart came past he was fighting fir second place, eventually Craig pulled away but 1st place had gone. Again Craig was catching him but the race ended before he got anywhere near him.
For the final Craig started 5th. He made a good start settling into 4th. As he was about to make a move for 3rd the lad infronts chain came off and he Craig got boxed in behind him. By the time he got round him he was miles behind. Then on lap 7 one of the wires came off the ignition so Craig quickly jumped out and put it back on but never tucked the chain guard down properly and was given the mechanical failure flag.
Craig is hoping for a better round in two weeks @ Shenington.
Rissington 30th September
again we tested Saturday to see if the engine was ok. Once we had put new rubber on it seemed fine.
Sunday morning was wet, in Craig's first heat he started 6h on the grid, he made a good start getting to 4th an held 4th place until the last lap where he was pushing a little hard and lost it in the elbow. He finished 5th in the end.
For his second heat he started 2nd and took the lead coming out of the dog leg took the lead and pulled away very quickly. As he crossed the line to finish the first lap his Kart switched ends. When he restarted he managed to recover to another 5th place.
He started 6th again for his 3rd heat and made a pretty good start and finished 4th.
In the final he started 5th. Craig settled into 5th and whilst trying to overtake, the two Jnr Rotax's kept coming through and getting in the way, eventually he got past and he was into 4th place but the lead 4 were to far ahead. On the last lap Craig's brake seals blew & he slid off the track but just managing to control the Kart.
Rissington 4th November
This was Craigs first meeting back on his WRIGHT chassis. We arrived Saturday morning and it was nice. Craig started the first session and straight away seemed to get to grips with the chassis, but on lap 6 the brake disk carrier shattered and as Craig pushed on the pedal it blew out the seals.
After missing about 2 sessions Craig was back on track again. We made a few changes to the Kart and the last two sessions went really well.
Craig started on grid 9 for the first heat and made a good start. He made good progress upto 5th place and when he went down the inside for 4th place he got T- boned and spun off.
He started 6th for the second heat but had way too much grip. He had a good little battle for 8th position but unfortunately finished 9th.
For the 3rd heat Craig started on pole. He made a good start, settling into second place for 4 laps and the slowly the grip went off and he slipped to 5th place.
For the final he started 7th. He made a good start, getting upto 5th place but then for some reason ended up back down to last position. As the last 5 laps approached the Kart seemed to handle batter and Craig drove a brilliant race to finish 6th.
Rissington 26th November
This was Craig's last meeting this year so we decided we were going to practice and go out on a high.
All Saturday Craig seemed to settle down quite well with his Kart and set some really quick times.
Sunday, it rained, and rained, and rained. Craig hadn't drive the Wright in the wet 4 over a year and a half and all set up data was no good because of the new style wet. We guessed a set up and it seemed good.
Craig started 9th for the first heat and he made quite a good start, but as the laps went on and he had passed a few people he started to get knocked around and at one point he was clearly hit from behind to try and take him off but some how managed to keep his Kart on the track. And the last lap he was hit really wide coming out of the dog leg and dropped 2 places to 9th.
The second heat Craig started on pole, this time we made a few changes to the Kart hoping these would help but it was clean after 3 laps that they weren’t helping him as much as he needed.
For the Final Craig started 7th, he made a pretty good start but on lap 6 disaster struck, the exhaust mount snapped and Craig was forced to retire.
Craig is now looking forward to next year when he will be in a new class and on a new Kart.
